Jean & Christopher's Baby Girl

We created our blog in order to allow our friends and family to follow along with the adoption of our new baby girl. We plan to post to the blog during our trip to China. If all goes as planned, we should be able to include photos along the way. Thanks for sharing in our journey with us!

Ellen Lei Casey

After a year and a half, you would think that we would have settled on a name long ago. Instead, we were paging through the baby-naming books this weekend. Finally, our little girl has a name! We wanted to keep her Chinese name as part of her new name, so Lei will be her middle name. There's no great story behind Ellen. It's just a name we like.

In addition to her name, we have a little more information on her background. On December 13, 2005 (her birthday), Ellen was left on the steps to the Fuling Social Welfare Institute (Fuling SWI). She weighed 7 lbs. 7 oz. and was in good health. Her development report states that "She loves to be teased with and to be held" and that "Fu Bao Lei is a quiet, gentle, elegant little girl. She has sparkling eyes. She loves to smile."

We have submitted all of our paperwork back to our agency. We will be traveling with six other families from our agency, all who are picking up their daughters at the Fuling SWI.
