Jean & Christopher's Baby Girl

We created our blog in order to allow our friends and family to follow along with the adoption of our new baby girl. We plan to post to the blog during our trip to China. If all goes as planned, we should be able to include photos along the way. Thanks for sharing in our journey with us!

We have our referral!!!

We are thrilled to welcome our new daughter, Lei! We received our good news this afternoon. She is 9 months old, was born on 12/13/2005, and lives at the Fuling Social Welfare Institute (SWI) in Chongqing, China. Her middle name is Bao and last name is Fu.

Fu means "happiness" and is the last name of all the children at the Fuling SWI. Bao means"treasure" and is the middle name of all the babies there that are of the same generation. Lei means "thunder" when used for a boy or "flower bud" when used for a girl.

On 6/30/2006, she weighed 18 lbs. and was 26" tall.

At this point, we are not sure what we will name her. We will probably keep Lei as either her first or middle name.

We will likely travel in 6 to 8 weeks to pick her up. I will continue to post as things move along.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Jean

Congratulations on your recent referral!!!

Research-China.Org specializes in providing adoptive families an important part of their child's past -- the newspaper ads placed by the orphanage when your child was found. These "finding ads" contain photos of your child that predate your referral photos by up to several months. Additionally, they contain important finding information that will allow you to decide whether you want to visit the location while in China. Most importantly, they are a very important part of your child's preadoption history.

Please contact us with your child's Chinese name, orphanage and finding date (or birth date if the finding date is unknown). We will research her ad for no charge, and let you know what is available. We sometimes have extra copies of the actual newspapers available that your child's ad appears in, but these go quickly so we urge you to act as soon as possible.

You can find more information on finding ads at our website: www.research-china.org.

We also have DVDs available your daughter's orphanage, which give a wonderful overview of the facility and city of your child's birth.

Congratulations on your new addition. We look forward to hearing from you.
